IRA proudly announces its Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series schedule which will consist of 30 full point races, including co-sanctioned events with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCo C), and the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA). Joey Moughan and Scotty Thiel also have 410 winged sprint car victories at the birthplace of the IRA in 2017. A main action saw Neitzel take the early lead but soon Thiel was on his bumper.
Wisconsin, particularly the southeast part of the state, is home for the series as IRA fixture facilities such as Beaver Dam Raceway, Wilmot Raceway, Plymouth Dirt Track, and Angell Park Speedway will each host 4 events. Former Wilmot Raceway champion Mike Kertscher will also be in attendance this weekend behind the wheel of the Thone Motorsports 80k. Balog had moved from his 10th starting position into 4 when the caution flag fell with just 3 laps remaining for Steve Meyer who blew a tire.
141 Speedway has the IRA winged/410 group 3 times, with the popular Dodge County Fairgrounds having a pair of dates. And Washington states Taylor Malsam and the Rudeen Racing Team have indicated that there beautiful blue and black 26 machine will be in attendance all weekend. The restart gave Balog a chance to move around Nienhiser for 3rd, and Schultz an opportunity to challenge for the win, but the 64 machine was just too strong and it was Scotty Thiel pulling into victory lane for the 2nd time this year in IRA competition.
All 3 of these races were chose by the ASCo C to be included in their 2018 limited MAVTV package. To find Balog's last half mile win in IRA competition you have to go back to the July 25th 2014 Langlade County Speedway Race when Balog was victorious over Mike Reinke and Steve Meyer. The Joliet event at Route 66 is Saturday night of Chicagoland Speedways big NASCAR weekend, following the conclusion of the NASCAR Xfinity race just across the street. Meyer has since been able to claim a win of his own at the Langlade County Speedway, winning the 2016 event and should be a contender this Friday night. The IRA officially has the events at 34 Raceway, Fairbury American Legion Speedway, and La Salle Speedway listed as co-sanctioned races with MOWA, though it is likely that the MOWA sanction will be added to enhance one or two of the currently listed multiple race Wisconsin weekends too. Meyer has proven to be strong on the big tracks and and will use that skill to try and claim his first win of the 2017 season. And the Outagamie Speedway (Seymour) returns to the schedule after a years absence. Other surprise visitors are likely to join in on the fun too. Schultz would settle for 2nd and Balog would come home 3rd. The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will again headline annual Fair & Festival events such as the Langlade County Fair (July 27), the Kenosha County Fairs Roger Iles Tribute (Aug 18), Sun Prairies Miller Lite Corn Fest (Aug 19), the Sheboygan County Fair (Sept 1), and the Clay Co Fair in Spencer, IA in a non-point affair on Sept 14. If the racing action wasn't enough to get you excited for Friday and Saturday night the fair should. Scotty Neitzel would bring his 2w across in 4th and Nienhiser would finish in 5th.
